Fanaticism, Criminality, and Abuse in Scientology

hubbardcommodoreScientologists aren’t squirreling Scientology when they apply Fair Game to their “enemies”, they are applying 100% standard Scientology.

Thus, I contend that all fanaticism, criminality, and abuse that comes from Scientologists, either in the Church or in the Independent field, stems directly from following the written words and taped lectures of L Ron Hubbard.

If this is true, then we should be able to find actual quotes from L Ron Hubbard which prompt that fanaticism, criminality, and abuse. And so we do.

I have scoured my brain, and the Internet, to find these quotes and have installed a widget in my sidebar to the right that displays them, 1 by 1, every 15 seconds. See it right there? ———->>

I’m hoping that any readers of this blog can contribute other quotes that I might have missed in the comments section below.

And if there are any quotes from David Miscavige that you believe contribute to fanaticism, criminality, and abuse in Scientology, let’s see those too.

So far I have 45 quotes.

Can we get to 100?

Here’s what I have so far:

“You are only three or four hours from taking your glasses off for keeps.”
L. Ron Hubbard / “Eyesight and glasses,” “Dianetic Auditor’s Bulletin,” Vol. 2, No. 7, January 1952

“Scientology is used to increase spiritual freedom, intelligence, ability and to produce immortality.”
L. Ron Hubbard / DIANETICS AND SCIENTOLOGY TECHNICAL DICTIONARY, copyright 1975, reprinted 1987, p. 370

“MAKE MONEY. MAKE MORE MONEY. MAKE OTHER PEOPLE PRODUCE SO AS TO MAKE MORE MONEY.”
L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 9 March 1972, MS OEC 384

“Show me any person who is critical of us and I’ll show you crimes and intended crimes that would stand a magistrate’s hair on end.”
L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Bulletin, 4 April 1965

“Somebody some day will say ‘this is illegal.’ By then be sure the orgs [Scientology organizations] say what is legal or not.”
L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 4 January 1966, “LRH Relationship to Orgs”

“If attacked on some vulnerable point by anyone or anything or any organization, always find or manufacture enough threat against them to cause them to sue for peace.” L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 15 August 1960, Dept. of Govt. Affairs

“The purpose of the suit is to harass and discourage rather than to win. The law can be used very easily to harass, and enough harassment on somebody who is simply on the thin edge anyway, well knowing that he is not authorized, will generally be sufficient to cause his professional decease. If possible, of course, ruin him utterly.” L. Ron Hubbard / PAB: A MANUAL ON THE DISSEMINATION OF MATERIAL, 1955

“When we need somebody haunted we investigate…When we investigate we do so noisily always.”
L. Ron Hubbard / MANUAL OF JUSTICE, 1959

“People attack Scientology, I never forget it, always even the score. People attack auditors, or staff, or organisations, or me. I never forget until the slate is clear.” L. Ron Hubbard / MANUAL OF JUSTICE, 1959

“So we listen. We add up associations of people with people. When a push against Scientology starts somewhere, we go over the people involved and weed them out. Push vanishes.” L. Ron Hubbard / MANUAL OF JUSTICE, 1959

“ENEMY SP Order. Fair game. May be deprived of property or injured by any means by any Scientologist without any discipline of the Scientologist. May be tricked, sued or lied to or destroyed. L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 18 October 1967

“The practice of declaring people FAIR GAME will cease. FAIR GAME may not appear on any Ethics Order. It causes bad public relations. This P/L does not cancel any policy on the treatment or handling of an SP.” L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 21 October 1968, “Cancellation of Fair Game”

“A truly Suppressive Person or group has no rights of any kind and actions taken against them are not punishable.”
L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 1 March 1965, HCO (Division 1) “Ethics, Suppressive Acts, Suppression of Scientology and Scientologists”

“The names and connections, at this time, of the bitterly opposing enemy are: 1. Psychiatry and psychology (not medicine). 2. The heads of news media who are also directors of psychiatric front groups. 3. A few key political figures in the fields of “mental health” and education. 4. A decline of monetary stability caused by the current planning of bankers who are also directors of psychiatric front organizations [that] would make us unable to function.” L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 16 February 1969, “TARGETS, DEFENSE”

“When you move off a point of power, pay all your obligations on the nail, empower all your friends completely and move off with your pockets full of artillery, potential blackmail on every erstwhile rival, unlimited funds in your private account and the addresses of experienced assassins and go live in Bulgravia [sic] and bribe the police.” L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 12 February 1967, “The Responsibilities of Leaders”

“There is no more ethical group on this planet than ourselves.” L. Ron Hubbard / KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING. 7 February 1965, reissued 27 August 1980

“In any event, any person from 2.0 down on the Tone Scale should not have, in any thinking society, any civil rights of any kind, because by abusing those rights he brings into being arduous and strenuous laws which are oppressive to those who need no such restraints.”
L. Ron Hubbard / SCIENCE OF SURVIVAL, 1989 Ed., p. 145

“There are only two answers for the handling of people from 2.0 down on the Tone Scale, neither one of which has anything to do with reasoning with them or listening to their justification of their acts. The first is to raise them on the Tone Scale by un-enturbulating some of their theta by any one of the three valid processes. The other is to dispose of them quietly and without sorrow.“ L. Ron Hubbard / SCIENCE OF SURVIVAL, p. 170

“The sudden and abrupt deletion of all individuals occupying the lower bands of the Tone Scale from the social order would result in an almost instant rise in the cultural tone and would interrupt the dwindling spiral into which any society may have entered.” L. Ron Hubbard / SCIENCE OF SURVIVAL, p. 170

“A Venezuelan dictator once decided to stop leprosy. He saw that most lepers in his country were also beggars. By the simple expedient of collecting and destroying all the beggars in Venezuela an end was put to leprosy in that country.” L. Ron Hubbard / SCIENCE OF SURVIVAL, p. 171

“Unfortunately, it is all too often true that suppressors to a creative action must be removed before construction and creation takes place. Any person very high on the Tone Scale may level destruction toward a suppressor.”
L. Ron Hubbard / SCIENCE OF SURVIVAL, p. 159

“In all the broad Universe there is no other hope for Man than ourselves.” L. Ron Hubbard / “Ron’s Journal” 1967

“A psychiatrist today has the power to (1) take a fancy to a woman (2) lead her to take wild treatment as a joke (3) drug and shock her to temporary insanity (4) incarnate [sic] her (5) use her sexually (6) sterilise her to prevent conception (7) kill her by a brain operation to prevent disclosure. And all with no fear of reprisal. Yet it is rape and murder… We want at least one bad mark on every psychiatrist in England, a murder, an assault, or a rape or more than one… This is Project Psychiatry. We will remove them.” L. Ron Hubbard / Sec ED, Office of LRH, Confidential, 22 February 1966, “Project Psychiatry”

“Now, get this as a technical fact, not a hopeful idea. Every time we have investigated the background of a critic of Scientology, we have found crimes for which that person or group could be imprisoned under existing law. We do not find critics of Scientology who do not have criminal pasts.”
L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Bulletin, 5 November 1967, “Critics of Scientology”

“This is the correct procedure: Spot who is attacking us. Start investigating them promptly for felonies or worse using our own professionals, not outside agencies. Double curve our reply by saying we welcome an investigation of them. Start feeding lurid, blood sex crime actual evidence on the attackers to the press. Don’t ever tamely submit to an investigation of us. Make it rough, rough on attackers all the way.” L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 25 February 1966

“We’re playing for blood, the stake is EARTH.” L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 7 November 1962

“THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN CONTROL PEOPLE IS TO LIE TO THEM. You can write that down in your book in great big letters. The only way you can control anybody is to lie to them.” L. Ron Hubbard / “Off the Time Track,” lecture of June 1952, excerpted in JOURNAL OF SCIENTOLOGY issue 18-G, reprinted in TECHNICAL VOLUMES OF DIANETICS & SCIENTOLOGY, vol. 1, p. 418

“This [Scientology] is useful knowledge. With it the blind again see, the lame walk, the ill recover, the insane become sane and the sane become saner. By its use the thousand abilities Man has sought to recover become his once more.” L. Ron Hubbard / SCIENTOLOGY: A HISTORY OF MAN, 1952

“Of all the ills of man which can be successfully processed by Scientology, arthritis ranks near the top. In skilled hands, this ailment, though misunderstood and dreaded in the past, already has begun to become history. Twenty-five hours of Scientology by an auditor who fairly understands how to process arthritis can be said to produce an invariable alleviation of the condition. Some cases, even severe ones, have responded in as little as two hours of processing, according to reports from auditors in the field.” L. Ron Hubbard / “Journal of Scientology,” Issue 1-G, 1952

“Leukaemia is evidently psychosomatic in origin and at least eight cases of leukaemia had been treated successfully by Dianetics after medicine had traditionally given up. The source of leukaemia has been reported to be an engram containing the phrase ‘It turns my blood to water.’”
L. Ron Hubbard / “Journal of Scientology,” Issue 15-G, 1953

“When somebody enrols, consider he or she has joined up for the duration of the universe – never permit an ‘open-minded’ approach… If they enrolled, they’re aboard, and if they’re aboard they’re here on the same terms as the rest of us – win or die in the attempt. Never let them be half minded about being Scientologists… When Mrs. Pattycake comes to us to be taught, turn that wandering doubt in her eye into a fixed, dedicated glare… The proper instruction attitude is, ‘We’d rather have you dead than incapable.’” L. Ron Hubbard / KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING, 7 February 1965, reissued 27 August 1980

“Advanced Courses [in Scientology] are the most valuable service on the planet. Life insurance, houses, cars, stocks, bonds, college savings, all are transitory and impermanent… There is nothing to compare with Advanced Courses. They are infinitely valuable and transcend time itself.” L. Ron Hubbard / Speaking of his Operating Thetan Courses, Flag Mission Order 375

“’Psychiatry’ and ‘psychiatrist’ are easily redefined to mean ‘an anti-social enemy of the people‘. This takes the kill crazy psychiatrist off the preferred list of professions…The redefinition of words is done by associating different emotions and symbols with the word than were intended…Scientologists are redefining ‘doctor‘, ‘Psychiatry’ and ‘psychology’ to mean ‘undesirable antisocial elements‘…The way to redefine a word is to get the new definition repeated as often as possible. Thus it is necessary to redefine medicine, psychiatry and psychology downward and define Dianetics and Scientology upwards. This, so far as words are concerned, is the public opinion battle for belief in your definitions, and not those of the opposition. A consistent, repeated effort is the key to any success with this technique of propaganda.” L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Policy Letter, 5 October 1971, PR Series 12, “Propaganda by Redefinition of Words”

“Arthritis vanishes, myopia gets better, heart illness decreases, asthma disappears, stomachs function properly and the whole catalogue of illnesses goes away and stays away.” L. Ron Hubbard / DIANETICS: THE MODERN SCIENCE OF MENTAL HEALTH, 1987 Ed., p. 72

“Scientology is the only specific (cure) for radiation (atomic bomb) burns.” L. Ron Hubbard / ALL ABOUT RADIATION, p. 109

“The alleviation of the condition of insanity has also been accomplished now…” L. Ron Hubbard / Hubbard Communications Office Bulletin, November 1970, “Psychosis”

“You are only three or four hours from taking your glasses off for keeps.” L. Ron Hubbard, “Eyesight and glasses,” / Dianetic Auditor’s Bulletin, Vol. 2, No. 7, January 1952

“People leave because of their own overts and withholds. That is the factual fact and the hard-bound rule. A man with a clean heart can’t be hurt. The man or woman who must must must become a victim and depart is departing because of his or her own overts and withholds. It doesn’t matter whether the person is departing from a town or a job or a session. The cause is the same.” L Ron Hubbard / HCO BULLETIN “BLOW-OFFS” 31 DECEMBER 1959R

“Auditor B: “That Process X didn’t work.” Instructor A: “What exactly did you do wrong?” Instant attack. L Ron Hubbard / HCOPL 7 February 1965 “KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING”

“We will not speculate here on why this was so or how I came to rise above the bank. We are dealing only in facts and the above is a fact – the group left to its own devices would not have evolved Scientology but with wild dramatization of the bank called “new ideas” would have wiped it out. Supporting this is the fact that Man has never before evolved workable mental technology and emphasizing it is the vicious technology he did evolve — psychiatry, psychology, surgery, shock treatment, whips, duress, punishment, etc, ad infinitum.

“So realize that we have climbed out of the mud by whatever good luck and good sense, and refuse to sink back into it again. See that Seven, Eight, Nine and Ten above are ruthlessly followed and we will never be stopped. Relax them, get reasonable about it and we will perish.”
L Ron Hubbard / HCOPL 7 February 1965 “KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING

“The common denominator of a group is the reactive bank. Thetans without banks have different responses. They only have their banks in common. They agree then only on bank principles. Person to person the bank is identical. So constructive ideas are individual and seldom get broad agreement in a human group.” L RON HUBBARD / HCOPL 7 FEBRUARY 1965 “KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING”

“When somebody enrols, consider he or she has joined up for the duration of the universe — never permit an “open- minded” approach. If they’re going to quit let them quit fast. If they enrolled, they’re aboard, and if they’re aboard, they’re here on the same terms as the rest of us — win or die in the attempt. Never let them be half-minded about being Scientologists.”
L RON HUBBARD / HCOPLE 7 FEBRUARY 1965 “KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING”

“We’ll survive because we are tough and are dedicated. When we do instruct somebody properly he becomes more and more tiger. When we instruct half-mindedly and are afraid to offend, scared to enforce, we don’t make students into good Scientologists and that lets everybody down. When Mrs. Pattycake comes to us to be taught, turn that wandering doubt in her eye into a fixed, dedicated glare and she’ll win and we’ll all win. Humor her and we all die a little. The proper instruction attitude is, “You’re here so you’re a Scientologist. Now we’re going to make you into an expert auditor no matter what happens. We’d rather have you dead than incapable.” L RON HUBBARD / HCOPL 7 FEBRUARY 1965 “KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING”

“We’re not playing some minor game in Scientology. It isn’t cute or something to do for lack of something better.’

“The whole agonized future of this planet, every Man, Woman and Child on it, and your own destiny for the next endless trillions of years depend on what you do here and now with and in Scientology.’

“This is a deadly serious activity. And if we miss getting out of the trap now, we may never again have another chance.”

‘Remember, this is our first chance to do so in all the endless trillions of years of the past. Don’t muff it now because it seems unpleasant or unsocial to do Seven, Eight, Nine and Ten.’ L RON HUBBARD / HCOPL 7 FEBRUARY 1965 “KEEPING SCIENTOLOGY WORKING”

“In fifty thousand years of history on this planet alone, Man never evolved a workable system. It is doubtful if, in foreseeable history, he will ever evolve another. Man is caught in a huge and complex labyrinth. To get out of it requires that he follow the closely taped path of Scientology.” L RON HUBBARD / HCOPL 14 FEBRUARY 1965 “SAFEGUARDING TECHNOLOGY”

“People have following the route mixed up with “the right to have their own ideas.” Anyone is certainly entitled to have opinions and ideas and cognitions-so long as these do not bar the route out for self and others.“ L RON HUBBARD / 14 FEBRUARY 1965 “SAFEGUARDING TECHNOLOGY”

“MAKE THE PENALTIES FOR NONCOMPLIANCE AND FALSE REPORTS TOO GRUESOME TO BE FACED AND ENFORCE THEM.”
L RON HUBBARD / HCO Policy Letter 5 January 1968, “Overfilled In-Basket, Bad News”

“Men will keep the accounts straight only because you can muster bayonets to enforce that they do.” L RON HUBBARD / HCO POLICY LETTER OF 4 OCTOBER 1968 Issue II “ETHICS PRESENCE”

“As an executive you get compliance because you have ethics presence and persistence and can get mad.” L RON HUBBARD / HCO POLICY LETTER OF 4 OCTOBER 1968 Issue II “ETHICS PRESENCE”

  1. I keep stumbling over these Scientology mechanisms for totalitarianism. Dunno how far you’ve got on your quest to find 100 but here’s one which might fit your criteria:

The survival of a group depends upon the ability of its individual members to control their environment and to insist that the other group members also control theirs.

This is the stuff of which survival is made.

A sane group, knowing and using their technologies of handling men and mest, cannot help but control their environment.

But this depends upon the individual group member being sane, able to control his mest and those around him and using the tech of life, the tech of admin, the tech of specific types of activity.

Such a group inevitably inherits the culture and its guidance.

  2. Thanks for that reference about privacy, and thanks to Pluvo for clearly expressing the arrogance of the scientology world-view.
That whole superiority trip gets amplified when a person joins staff or the Sea Org, as one is, of course, not a ¨dilettante¨, but is one who is willing to ¨do something about it¨ -and does. Yikes.
Looking forward to reading about Jesse Prince…

  3. I did a search and found the reference. I was wrong about the name of the lecture:

“If you have a hard time invading people’s “privacy,” you’ll have a hard time 8-Cing them into a Book One co-audit 4 or any other Div 6 course,5 because you think the reactive mind has rights. No! It does not have any rights. What has rights? That machinery? Those dramatizations? Those computing circuits? Those things have rights? The next thing you know we’ll have laws out saying reactive minds have a perfect right to kill everybody”.

  4. I think your articles and your blog with the (new) clear structure are great. I also like your comments on the various blogs. Thanks for all what you do – it is very much appreciated.

After reading your article “Fanaticism, Criminality, and Abuse in Scientology” with the many references, it reminded me of a subject which I think people who were not in Scientology are not at all aware of. Scientology is known as wacky and/or abusive, but its misanthropic character – contrary to its creed and public PR – is not understood by the man in the street, in my opinion.

It is about the ‘bank’, the ‘reactive mind’ and how Hubbard used it to invalidate and label every person on earth and especially those who were not agreeing with him (this also leading to: “Show me any person who is critical of us and I’ll show you crimes and intended crimes that would stand a magistrate’s hair on end.”).
Hubbard said: “The common denominator of a group is the reactive bank. Thetans without banks have different responses. They only have their banks in common. They agree then only on bank principles. Person to person the bank is identical. So constructive ideas are individual and seldom get broad agreement in a human group.”

I believe that with this and similar statements he was ‘black PRing’ the human race as such and acting as a‘3.Party’ between Scientologists and non-Scientologists and especially having a tool to label and isolate any critic of Scientology. He was generalizing and labeling and invalidating ‘wogs’ (and Scientologists who were not ‘clear’ yet). Everything non-conform to Scientology and his ideas was ‘bank’ and every person labeled as being ‘reactive’.

With his assertion: “We will not speculate here on why this was so or how I came to rise above the bank. We are dealing only in facts and the above is a fact – the group left to its own devices would not have evolved Scientology but with wild dramatization of the bank…” he was stressing his supposed superiority. The assertion about it being ‘fact’ and telling at the same time that “we will not speculate” – meaning you have not to question it – are arrogant and part of the (early) thought-stopping. It is also an example of the (1.1) censoring of the communication between his followers. If something didn’t make sense then ‘the reason for it’ was that one had MUs or one couldn’t understand it because one was not (high enough) up the bridge yet and just wasn’t smart enough (like Hubbard and the ones who did (supposedly) understand it all).

The man in the street is not aware of this part of the Scientology doctrine and of how probably most Scientologists are viewing them (‘bank dominated mob’) and would not understand the word ‘bank’ in the Scientology definition. You have to study Scientology (from the inside or outside) to understand this misanthropic concept of Hubbard. He was creating a master-race-mentality with which he was implanting every Scientologist and especially his submissive storm troopers in the Sea Org who are running on this program. A person who is disagreeing with only a part of this doctrine and is ‘revolting’ in the cult, is getting characterized as ‘dramatizing’, what means he is overtaken by his reactive mind/bank like being overtaken by demons (or BTs) and also dramatizing/having ‘evil purposes’, and is seen as an enemy who has to be ostracized if he doesn’t recant and submissively obey ‘Command Intention’.
The so often publicly promoted slogans of “Think for yourself” and the phrase “Nothing in Scientology is true for you unless you have observed it and it is true according to your observation” are swept aside; they are a farce to deceive well meaning people.

The general public, also degradingly called ‘wogs’, should know what (many) Scientologists think of them: That they are seen as being reactive and obsessed by their ‘reactive mind’. This mindset should be known especially regarding the ‘Church of Scientology’s’ ‘humanitarian’ objectives and the “Youth for Human Rights” campaign, with which they are luring in young people who are acting in good faith.
The story of the BTs and Xenu may be ridiculous and made Scientology a laughing stock, but I don’t think the general public grasps fully what an arrogant and misanthropic view the average indoctrinated Scientologist has of them.

    • Excellent article, Pluvo!

I’ve often thought about Hubbard’s quote from his lecture “Handling the Public Individual” where he says “What has rights? Those computing circuits?” (Hay! another quote!)

When I was a Scientologist, even I didn’t really see that. It was not until I got out that what you say here really began to dawn on me.

What you write about here is well expressed, and very important for people to know about Scientology.

      Thanks for writing it.

    • Yes he did.

I have an upcoming blog post about Jesse Prince. He withstood all kinds of fair game and harassment by Marty Mike and Dave, just for telling the truth. And he never let them shut him up.

He is a true hero in my book.

  5. For people who may not know who Hana Eltringham Whitfield is, she was a Class 12 auditor who worked with LRH for many years in the Sea Org.

Here’s a speech she gave on the subject a few years ago. It’s a good introduction to her, what her views are on her time in Scientology, on working with L Ron Hubbard, and other matters.

  6. Think this belongs here:

Note the following, from SECRET LIVES (Channel 4):

    HANA ELTRINGHAM:
“At one point he turned round and said to us in a very masterful way, in a very, almost ambassadorial sort of way, he said, ‘It’s perfectly all right to step outside the law, because the law itself is aberrated, so in order to achieve our ends, that gives us licence to step outside the law.”

  7. Alanzo, glad I was able to contribute. Wasn’t sure if you wanted pure LRH quotes or not; but I was so surprised by the level of control revealed by this quote that I thought it might work for this series. Naturally, this will be an ongoing project, as I constantly come across amazing LRH quotes. Now I have a place to share them, as I come to them.

    • ” Naturally, this will be an ongoing project, as I constantly come across amazing LRH quotes. Now I have a place to share them, as I come to them.”

      Awesome, Dr.

That’s what this post is for.

  8. “The assignments must be accepted without question by the release. If he has to wait his turn for a post to become vacant, he must do so without protest. If the Bosun and MAA flunk him on the assignments for good cause, he must accept it and accept what actions are ordered as correction and/or amends. If his reactions to any such barrier are negative, his release and/or clean up is automatically suspect and is suspended, and he is demoted to section member.”

This is very clear to me that the LRH approved “VFP” of the RPF was a person who would instantly do whatever he was told without question.

    I think it fits.

I’ll put it into the magic sidebar widget!

    Alanzo

  9. Alanzo, another great post!

Do you think this (below) meets requirements for this series? I guess, when I read this, I was just stunned by the level of control exerted over members who have already gotten into some kind of trouble. This is not an LRH quote, per se. But it was apparently approved by the Old Man. The message is obvious: SHUT UP AND TAKE IT OR ELSE…

  10. Found another one!

“This cancellation is contemporary with the justice discovery that crime is the direct result of a lack of a hat and training on the hat and that a hat consists of a write up, checksheet and pack fully trained in on the person.

The motto is ‘Hat don’t hit’.

It is also part of this that I have concluded man cannot be trusted with justice.

    • Thanks so much. If a reference occurs to you that I might have missed, or that you see around elsewhere on the web, come back here and put it in the comments.

Also, this post is presented to be used by other blog and website owners – and those who comment on Scientology on the Internet – who would like to use these LRH references, as well.

Always good to keep everyone informed as to the source of the fanaticism, criminality and abuse in Scientology!

      • Will do. I have several compilation documents of LRH quotes for a project in an entirely different vein than your theme here. But when time permits, I will skim thru those documents and see if I’ve gathered any useful nuggets that fit your “fanaticism” angle as well.
