I used to think that as long as I was not in the cult of Scientology any more, I would never fall into the unquestioning, partisan mindset that I had adopted when I was a Scientologist.
Scientologists, and Ex/Anti-Scientologists, have been on the Internet since the Internet was born. Thus there is a substantial post-Scientology internet culture. These posts are about what I’ve learned after Anti-Scientology.
Karen de la Carrier, the former “Queen of Scientology”, tries to suppress criticism of Tony Ortega by deeming it “OSA Program”. Should we all just get in line and do what we’re told now?
The majority of Ex-Scientologists today avoid posting to ESMB. They had enough mental abuse in the cult and certainly don’t need any more of it as an Ex-Scientologist on ESMB.
Tony Ortega recently repeated (twice) that an Ex-Scientologist who got themselves involved in Scientology did so during a “vulnerable” part of their lives. It’s a frequent and superficial claim made about a multitude of individuals who get themselves involved in all kinds of cults, not just Scientology. It’s becoming quite the stereotype. Here’s what Tony […]
With so many people stuck in the most negative views possible on ESMB, is this a place where an Ex-Scientologist can productively evolve and grow after their experiences in Scientology?
Does Karen De La Carriere pay money to Tony Ortega and Chris Shelton to post what she wants?
Starting at exactly 47 min and 35 sec, you will hear Mike Rinder, the number 2 or 3 guy in the Church of Scientology since the 1980’s, who was “on the ship” and worked with Hubbard since the 1970’s, completely invalidate the subject of Scientology and back it up with his own personal experience.
Marty Rathbun is as flawed as any one of us. And no one has been a bigger critic of him than I have been. But Marty Rathbun has achieved as much or more than any other critic of Scientology in its entire history – going all the way back to Joseph Winter.
After throwing darts in every direction, the bumbling duo of Tony Ortega and his anonymous sidekick “TexasLawyer” continue their speculation even after the last papers have been filed in the Monique Rathbun legal case, leaving their “commenting community” just as vengeful and confused as they were before. Obviously, Monique and Marty Rathbun have not done […]
In my opinion, Tony Ortega’s continued use of his blog to attack Cathy Tweed very much crosses the line of ethical journalism. And Rachel Bernstein’s use of her standing as a licensed psychologist to publicly shame a mother who has lost her daughter to suicide is, quite possibly, a breach of her license.
In response to seeing Janet Weiland’s name and face again on ESMB after an excellent write up from Fred G. Haseney, detailing how Janet Weiland is trying to get him evicted from his home in LA for criticizing the Church of Scientology, the poster who goes by the name “Sheila” wrote this about her experiences […]
And they deserve closure. No person who is loyal and sycophantic to those who refuse to provide the information necessary to help people who have been harmed by Scientology are likely to be a credible journalistic source for those scrambling to make a buck at Scientology reporting. That’s a long sentence, but if you read […]
Karen De La Carriere a prostitute? I’ve been waiting for her to file a defamation of character/libel lawsuit on the Church of Scientology for over a year now. It appears here: http://www.leahreminiaftermath.com/articles/karen-de-la-carriere-white-paper.html This is the most shocking thing I think I’ve ever seen about someone high up in the Church of Scientology – A Class […]
Ugh. Freedom Media and Ethics has put out another video on Tony Ortega linking him with the infamous BackPage.com and discussing how his paycheck at the Village Voice was created through their money-making efforts. They also show how he defended BackPage.com and the way it made money for him. But I thought Tony Ortega was […]
@KellyKels_Melbs is an important critic of Scientology whose work has appeared on Leah Remini’s Scientology and the Aftermath. And so it was astonishing to me when Kels reached out to me on Twitter to tell me about yet another bullying incident by Tony Ortega of her in the Supporters of Leah Remini’s Facebook group: Kels […]
It is the goal of every Scientology Celebrity to get Scientology onto the cover of People Magazine. Leah Remini has now done it. This is an interview with the journalist who spoke to Leah for People Magazine. If you’ve never purchased a copy of People Magazine, now is the time.
The exposure of Scientology is a repetitive business. Every year, there are new people coming out of the Church who, no matter how highly trained as an auditor, no matter how many years they’ve spent on staff or in the Sea Org, know very little about the actual subject of Scientology and what it really […]
This week’s episode of The Leftovers on HBO went in a direction that was very close to home for me, and probably would be for a lot of people here. Last Season, The Leftovers was a series which had a cult in it, but it wasn’t really about the cult until this week. This week, […]
It is said that there is only one moon. It is also said that there are as many moons as there are individuals who are looking at it. Maybe there is one objective reality called The Moon. But I don’t think that even Neil Armstrong has seen it. – Alanzo
The legendary critic of Scientology who posts under the name “Veda” on ESMB has unearthed a couple quotes from Mike Rinder which show the change he has undergone in the last few years as he continues to live life outside the cult. Below, back in late 2012, there was a discussion of what L Ron […]
Mike Rinder posted an article on his blog today that Karen DeLacarriere gave to him from “The Outer Banks”, a super-secret Facebook group that I was joined into without my permission, and then kicked out of because it’s only for the “Key Players”. The guy who kicked me out, Ronn Stacy, told me this three […]
Sheeple. An actual mathematical formula for them. I’m not kidding. I think Carl Sagan wrote about it once: Ask Neil Degrasse Tyson. It describes a fundamental property of all human groups: not just Scientists and Scientologists. As social animals, human beings set up rules, both tacit and expressed, to coordinate their efforts in pursuit of […]
There’s a really good book, written by a former CIA analyst, called “The Thinker’s Toolkit”. This book contains 14 tools of structured analysis which can be used to help you figure things out. A structured analysis is a technique that police detectives, FBI agents, CIA Analysts, and others use to investigate something without letting emotions, […]
I recently pissed off a Fierce Anti-Scientology Internet Warrior about her use of cruelty. I asked her a lot of questions to try to understand exactly how she thought about it. From what I could gather, I found that our motivations to be cruel to others on the Internet were very similar. I found that, […]
Never has there been better news for a free society: The above was taken from a Google Trends search on the search term “scientology”. Even an OEC/FEBC Grad can read the writing on this wall.
Another excellent discussion over on Mike Rinder’s blog prompted me to post this solution to the endless tribal warfare between “spiritualists” and “scientists”. Although I almost always disagree with her, Marildi, once again does an admirable job making her case. As well as Eclipse-Girl, Roger Hornaday, and the rest. _____________________________________ marildi says June 17, 2015 […]
Pete Griffiths is a major badass in the fight to expose Scientology’s fraud and abuse. So, predictably, Pete has become a target for fair game by the Church of Scientology, just as L Ron Hubbard dictated. (They are so predictable!) Knowing all this, Pete – as a badass – still goes ahead and organizes conferences, […]
In keeping with not forgetting the positive and constructive parts of Scientology in order to seek to live with the truth, I found Mimsey Borogrove’s opening post on ESMB to be highly relevant. So I am stealing it and posting it here. Here’s the original: http://www.forum.exscn.net/showthread.php?37893-A-positive-viewpoint-what-s-it-worth A positive viewpoint – what’s it worth? ” I […]
A lot of really good discussions about Scientology take place in the comments section of Mike Rinder’s Blog. This is one that took place in March of 2014, and you can find it HERE: http://www.mikerindersblog.org/important-things-read/#comment-41120 Alanzo Wrote: “March 26, 2014 at 5:32 pm Rory wrote that Mike was shouting from the rooftops that “something is […]
Tom Smith is an Ex-Scientologist who for years interviewed many thought leaders in the world of Scientology criticism and cult recovery on Hawk Radio’s “The Edge” from Tampa Bay, Florida. He has also maintained a forum called The Ex-Scientologist Forum – not to be confused with ESMB, (The Ex-Scientologist Message Board). Over the years, Tom […]
This is a great comment, in response to the Scientologists Back in Comm moderators posting an OSA Program written in 2007 to handle the “squirrels”. “thetaclear on November 22, 2014 at 7:27 am said: You know, the “enemies” are not only from OSA , they come from within too, from us Scientologists. OSA uses our […]
